Original Memory Interview Question

What was your first memory?

Her Response:

I think that my first memory is of my gramma. I was spending the night at her house, and I got to sleep in her room with her. I was waiting for her to come to bed, and when she came out of her bathroom I learned that she wore a wig!

Did you have any siblings growing up? If so, what were some of the things that you remember doing with them. If not, who was your best friend while growing up?

Her Response:

I have one brother, Bob. Being three years older than I, he would play with me when he was in the mood. A favorite activity was to play with our He-Man toys.

Original Memory Interview Question

Who was your best friend throughout elementary school? What brought your friendship together? Why did you have so much fun together?

Her Response:

My very best friend was Katie. God, did we have good times! We would ride our bikes down to the Yacht Club every morning for swim practice, and then stay all day--we used to pretend we were mermaids. We also spent a lot of time at Tastee Freeze and Schneck's.

Original Memory Interview Question

What was your favorite television or radio show?

Her Response:

I had a number of favorite shows throughout my youth: Facts of Life was a big one; Silver Spoons (I adored Ricky Schroeder--I had a huge poster of him in my room!); Family Ties; and MacGyver was tops when I was in about middle school (I had a poster of Richard Dean Anderson at that stage). There was a short-lived show called Misfits of Science that I liked; I remember I was shattered when it was canceled.

Original Memory Interview Question

What kind of games did you play while growing up? Did you make up new games or did you play traditional games?

Her Response:

Bobby, Andy, Katie, and I used to play guns. We had all these elaborate rules about how long you were "dead" when shot, what was out-of-bounds, and so forth.

I also always liked board games, especially Clue. And I remember playing Ding with my dad often, and sometimes my mom and brother would play too.
