Original Memory Inspiration / QuestionDo you remember your first kiss? Was it a nightmare or was it memorable? Why not create a memory from it?
Her Response:In 8th grade, I was invited to a birthday party for Hilary Maxwell. The party was at her parents' house and the only people invited were couples. My recollection tells me there were four couples--Hilary Maxwell and Tim Hunter, Stephanie McCurdy and Jamie Scheets, Mona Shipp and that guy she was dating (Matt?), and me and Mark VanWinkle. I had no idea what I was getting into when I agreed to attend the party. I don't remember much about the first part of the party. I think we were all awkwardly sitting around and trying to find something to say. We were probably all holding hands with our little 8th grade couple buddy. The guys were all friends with each other and I think Hilary, Stephanie, and Mona knew each other pretty well. I didn't know any of them well. I probably knew Mark better than I knew the girls and we had probably been couple buddies for two weeks.
Anyway, at some point, Hilary and Tim disappeared. Everyone assumed they went to the barn to do it. I don't know whether they did it, but they were out there for a long time. There was talk that Jamie and Stephanie bathed each other in the bathtub. I have no idea what Mona and whoever did.
Mark and I went into Hilary's room, where she had bunk beds. We got in the top bunk, though I'm not sure how we got up there or why I agreed to it. The room was dark and some cheesy 8th grade make-out music was playing. I remembered we kissed and that's about it. I'm sure there was some other random touching, but I certainly didn't touch his area and he didn't touch mine. We probably rubbed against each other and I probably felt really evil at the time, as though I were doing something wrong. I'm not sure, 'cause I don't remember.
So, yeah, Mark VanWinkle...first kiss. I don't remember much about it. He broke up with me soon after that. Of course, I didn't really care. In 8th grade, we were all moving onto the next someone to hold hands with for two weeks. But, I'm sure my lack of technique in the bedroom was frowned upon. But, come on, WE WERE IN 8TH GRADE!
