When my daughter Christy was three, she went to the doctor with me. I was expecting her little brother. I needed to get a rhogam shot. She asked the nurse if I would fall down. The nurse and I gave each other a puzzeled looks. The nurse replied no. Then I realized why she had questioned the nurse when we picked up her older brother Jeff at school. She yelled down the hall to him. "Mom was shot today."

Children say the cutest things. When my daughter Christy was three, she asked me if I was sad to be all alone. I replied that I wasn't alone beacause I had her daddy and her older sister and brother and her. So I had plenty of people to be with. She said, "No Mommy, you are all alone with brown eyes."

I was the second youngest of six children. My Dad had the most contagious laugh. He died twenty five years ago. But he had one or two funny stories he would tell about each of us kids. He had two stories about me. He waould laugh and laugh about them. They both took place when I was about three. My parents took all six of us kids to a drive-in movie in our station wagon. My dad said everyone was quietly enjoying the movie when they heard a small voice from the back seat say "Heads heads thousands of heads."
The other incident happened when I answered the front door one afternoon and a friend of my parents asked if my mother was at home, I called for her. He struck up a conversation and asked if I had a kitty. "No" I replied. "Do you have a Dog?" he asked. "No", I replied, "all we have are six sick kids!" I think we all had colds or the flu or something. It doesn't seem that funny as I type it, but it makes me chuckle to think how my dad laughed and laughed about it.

I really embarrassed myself when I called the veterinarian's office. When the receptionist answered the phone I said, "Do you have a good product for dogs to get rid of flicks and teas?" When I heard her laughing, I said "I'm sorry I meant teas and flicks." At least I gave her a good laugh along with my daughter Michele who heard me on the phone.

When I was seven years old my sweet mother had high hopes that I would become an accomplished pianist. Because I had a willful, lazy side to my personality, I thought practicing the piano was pure drugery and no fun at all. My goal at that time in my life was to have all the fun that I could. when I sat on the piano bench, thirty minutes of practicing seemed like forever.
Every Tuesday after school, I went to church with children ranging from ages three to twelve. First we had music time and then we divided up in age groups and went to classrooms for a Suday school type lesson.
The music leader thought that it would be nice to have a child perform some kind of talent after our singing time each week. So my sweet mother promptly volunteered me. She thought it would be the perfect way to motivate me to practice. When I saw the music sheet that the music leader had given my mother, I was more determined than ever not to practice. It looked way too hard to me. And whenerver I . . . Read More..
