well ill start out by saying i really needed a car for the winter. ive leached off my dad for a few summers by using his truck because, well, he doesnt even drive it 8months out of the year. anyways, it was time to find a winter beater for the winter of 2005/2006. i searched high and low for the perfect beater, and let me tell you, i found just that.

bought from some weirdo dude in dearborn, this perfect running 94 teal escort was in for a challenge, me. it was actually a really nice looking car when i had bought it. no body damage, granted the interior was gross, but after some cleaning and TLC the thing was worth driving for what i paid for it - a whopping 650. talked the dude down from 800 or 900, i forget. anyways here are some stories about the teal beater or what some of my friends would call, the turtle.

the first initial damages were . . . Read More..

I?m going to leave out all the names in this one but it kind of funny. Something only 4 teenagers that are bored would do. Well to set the mood it was winter in Michigan. About 6 inches or more snow on the ground and the roads were covered in ice. A few of us wanted to get together and have a fest. A fest is a video game get together were we just played 4 player battle games for hours on end after school. Well one friend, who will remain nameless, wanted to stay home and make a snowman. Well we weren?t going to have any of that. So later that day we went over to his house and beat down his snowman with a bat.
The next day we went to school and bragged about how we demolished his snowman. He said that he built it back up already. This just pissed us off. So after school we rushed over to his house only to see his snowman standing there but it was turned to ice. He actually covered it with water. And it froze.
Rather than destroy it again we needed to really send him a . . . Read More..

Growing up in the 50's gives a person a different outlook then any other generation. I want to write about attending my first baseball game at Briggs stadium (later called Tiger stadium). On TV I saw the game in glorious black and white but I remember walking up the ramp to the seating area and seeing the most beautiful green baseball diamond in the world. I was totally in awe and didn't move for the longest time. My dad looked down at me and knew he made the right decission to take me out to the ballgame.Later when I became a dad I love to take my daughters to see the Tigers

"Look at all those people," I say as we pull into our hotel and the bus
just about runs over a bystander. After 20 hours of flying and
traveling we have arrived in our hotel. The travel time was not that
bad actually; I made nice acquaintence with a 16 year old
Chinese-American dude from Texas. His name is Josh. We
talked a bunch and he even let me watch a cheesy Chinese kung-fu movie
with him. Moderately sleeping in a cramped area helped make the trip go
faster. Josh and I played a bit of video games which was fun as well.

Most of my thinking when I got into Japan was "I cant believe I am in
Japan." As we walked through Narita, I just had a huge smile on my face
the whole time. I eagerly walked up to a woman in a booth and asked,
"Can I have one of these?" pointing like a kid at halloween to a
bookmark that had Japaneese characters all over them. She allowed and I
observed the interesting separation of garbage as I threw out my gum.

Today we woke up very early to catch the final flight to Beijing; about
5 AM. We were waiting a while after sitting down in our seats and I
took a little nap. I think I mostly relaxed on the plane and didn?t
really do a whole lot. I ended up cracking up at some of the
entertainment on the TV. There was a funny TV show showing people doing
quirky things similar to a Charly Chaplan silent film. It was shot in
high speed like the Chaplan films and it was hilarious seeing people?s
reactions.

We got into Beijing and we had a bit of a wait
because our bus wasn?t there, so out in the parking lot me and some
other people decided to do it like the locals and we whipped out the
Majongg set that I purchased the night before. We started playing on
the concrete and were stacking them, but then the bus rolled up. We had
some touring to do before we checked into the hotel and we drove to the
Temple of Heaven. I really did not feel like touring much this morning
and I wanted to . . . Read More..
