I and a friend wanted to see the city from a high vantage point, so we were finally able to get over to the Hancock building, and at the last minute decided to run most of the way, instead of taking the elevators.

So, we ran fifty flights. When we ran fifty, we said, 'Why not run sixty?' When we ran the sixty, we said, 'Why not run sixty-one?' Then, we took the elevator the next twenty flights.

At the top-most accessible level, we found ourselves on an abandoned floor, where there was clearly some renovation happening.

We opened one of the bare rooms, and found that not only were we able to look out over the city from eighty or ninety floors up, but we were even able to open the windows and lean out.

Several friends and I had a friend who was going to Amsterdam to visit some friends of his, whom he used to live near.

They loved Taco Bell faire, but Amsterdam did not have any Taco Bells, so he wanted to go steal some hot sauce, and purchase a little food before he was to leave, that next day.

We all decided to assist him. We took a break from our studying (we had lived in the dorms at that point, at OU), and went over there. We all went in, and one by one as he was ordering, we all took a handful of hot sauce. He grabbed a handful as well on his way out.

All told, we took a total of nearly 180 packets to give to his friend and his family.

I worked at three different places in three different cities that summer-- One of them was a tanning place.

I closed up one night and went to browse the magazines at the neighboring Farmer Jack. As I was reading, a guy in the same isle grabbed my attention by addressing me, and directing me to look in the general direction of the bakery. It appeared that the fryalator was engulfed in flames. I had noticed it before, but I guess I must've just mistaken it for an oven left on.

Well, I confirmed for him that it definitely wasn't supposed to be like that. I immediately ran into the bakery and tried to locate the Anselon system, in an attempt to quickly extinguish the fire (Anselon is a fire-suppression system using dry chemicals, rather than wet ones, so a unit like that which was on fire, wouldn't spill grease all over whomever was near). I was unsuccessful in finding any switches are levers to activate it.

I next ran to find the manager-on-duty, to alert him of the situation, and . . . Read More..

A good friend and I had been driving around all weekend doing odd jobs with a medium-sized dumptruck he was able to get from his workplace.

A lady we had done work for over a period of time had offered to give him an extra shed, for him to keep some equipment of his in. So, around 12a that night we pulled up beside the house (which she had bought for her son), and backed-in to the backyard. This was funny, because the neighbor's nextdoor probbaly had no idea where the industrial warning-beeps were coming from so late at night.

We simply walked into the back, hoisted up the six-by-eight-by-six shed, and slid it into the bad of the truck, and closed off the back with a couple bungee cords.

We started driving the twenty miles back (we had to go the opposite direction for some other stuff first), and we eventually arrived back to his home. He stepped out of the truck to open his gate, so we could back-in the rest of the way.

A minute later he gets back in, and doesn't back-up, but . . . Read More..

There was a truck a friend was planning on purchasing from a coworker. This truck was not only longer than the typical truck, but was of an industrial nature with a verg powerful engine, and had a large flat surface in the back-- thusly accomodating piles of mulch, etc...

We took the truck out for a test-drive. Now, on this particular day, it had been raining very heavily, and was causing flooding on Lapeer (this was near Bald Mountain). We had spotted one rather large puddle in the . . . Read More..
